Eighty percent of autoimmune disorders happen to women because we suppress our feelings. We are taught/conditioned to be pleasant and happy, regardless of the situation. We are compelled to do for others and tend to take on other peoples problems because we "need" to "fix" it, regardless. This is why self care is so important for our well being in all aspects. It's not enough to just wash your make-up off at night and throw on a moisturizer, it is tuning into your entire system every single day at every moment and discovering what YOU need or what lights you up, without guilt. You are worth your attention more than anything else.

Self care is getting quiet, sitting with yourself, maybe a good cry and calming your system with meditation while watching the sunset. Self care is enjoying a meal you cooked for yourself and eating it slowly, feeling it nourish your system. Self care is taking yourself for a walk or out to lunch. Self care is taking a nap in the middle of the day or a long luxurious Epsom salt bath and massaging your body with infused lavender oil at the end of the day. Self care is looking at yourself in the mirror naked and telling yourself how beautiful you look. Self care is booking a facial, a massage, or an acupuncture appointment to give your entire system a relaxing reset.
Facials, massages and acupuncture help improve circulation, provide relaxation and relieve stress by stimulating the body's natural healing abilities. All of these things can help you reduce anxiety and sleep better. Just taking the time to indulge in something calming can be beneficial. It releases tension in your mind, creating a better sense of awareness while allowing clearer thinking.
Facials are often thought of as cosmetic treatments versus self-care treatments, but I strongly believe they also help in combating stress and anxiety. Facials send signals to your brain that you're doing something good for your body and skin. In all my Holistic Facials I stimulate the meridian points in the face, sending calming signals to the part of the brain responsible for dealing with stress and processing emotions like fear and anxiety. I work on relaxing the entire system as well as enhancing the skin's appearance. When we look good we feel good.
Anxiety, stress and poor mental health can exacerbate skin conditions as well as increase cortisol, also known as the stress hormone. It can cause a number of skin issues, including acne, wrinkles and rosacea. When cortisol is activated in our system through stress or medication, not only does it increase oil production causing acne, it also breaks down collagen leading to more wrinkles and ages the skin. It can also cause rosacea and other skin conditions to worsen. The inflammation causes the skin to become dry and itchy, weakening the blood vessels, and breaking down proteins in the skin, making it more likely to tear and become more susceptible to infection and slow down wound healing.
This is why it is more important than ever to practice self care and really love on yourself daily and book your sweet self a facial, a massage or an acupuncture appointment to nourish your entire system. You deserve all the love you give to yourself. When you love and value yourself with your whole heart it radiates out into the world. It is a vibrational energy that is astounding to participate in. Self care is the same vibrational frequency as money. Sit with that for a bit.
I look forward to seeing you. Enjoy!
